What does laminate do for my sign? What is PVC and will it work for me? What is MDO plywood and will it work for me?
What does laminate do for my sign?
This is an important question, most of our competitors do not laminate the signs they produce. All of our in-house produced signs are laminated. Laminate is a protective clear overlay that is adhered to the sign to protect the digital printed inks from scratching and fading. It effectively extends the life of outdoor digital prints to 5+ years (opposed to 2-3 years without laminate). Our laminate is high gloss and brings the colors out, making them deeper, brighter and more vivid. It also helps a great deal if vandalism is a problem, when cleaning graffiti or removing stickers, the inks under the laminate are protected so they don't wipe off or smear. It is not recommended to use any aerosol spray-on graffiti removers on laminate as it will melt when subjected to strong solvents. Mild solvents can be used to clean graffiti off laminate (soapy water, Fantastic, Windex, paint thinner, mineral spirits, Goof-off, denatured alcohol & lacquer thinner). For complete graffiti removal instructions you may contact us at sales@stockcustomsigns.com for technical assistance.

What is PVC and will it work for me?
PVC is a lightweight weather resistant material, made from expanded foamed polyvinyl chloride (PVC). It is very useful for outdoor signs as it does not turn yellow, peel or crack. It is easy to drill for screw mounting or adhere with construction adhesive (we use PC375) on many common exterior surfaces including: sand stucco, spanish stucco, popcorn stucco, smooth stucco, wood facia, metal facia, brick & block walls and lasts well in both hot & cold climates. 1/4" PVC requires a semi-flat wall or surface to mount on and should not be used for mounting on posts (single or double). For more detailed instructions on properly mounting your signs, feel free to contact or technical service team at sales@stockcustomsigns.com

What is MDO plywood and will it work for me?
MDO stands for Medium Density Overlay and is used as a smooth face outdoor plywood. We use 1/2" thick MDO plywood for signs that are mounted on single or double posts and require a greater resistance to bending than .080 aluminum can offer. MDO plywood does not have the rough surface common to other plywoods, it is very smooth and produces a durable and strong sign. It can be drilled in the same manner as other woods and can be screwed or bolted onto posts & walls easily and effectively. Our MDO is fully primed and coated on all exposed surfaces to make it last longer in all weather applications. For more information on the use or installation of MDO signs, please feel free to contact our technical service at sales@stockcustomsigns.com
